To celebrate the Fundació’s 30th anniversary, this special exhibition focuses on the life and art of Antoni Tàpies during his 30’s – a ten-year space in which the artist flourished between 1953 and 1963. During this time, his work reached a new level of maturity with the creation of his so-called ‘matter paintings’.

Characterized by dense textures and a restricted use of color, predominantly grey, ochre and earthy tones, these paintings led to Tàpies assuming a prominent place among international avant-garde circles. You’ll see a series of works from the Fundació and the artist’s family, alongside works on loan from other museums and private collections, with a particular focus on works that have not been exhibited for some time, or are largely unknown to the public.
Practical Information
Admission to the Fundació Antoni Tàpies: until 15 minutes before closing. Closed days: 1 and 6 of January, 25 and 26 of December. Closed due to the installation of the upcoming exhitions and activities: from 7 to 17 of June, 2021. Access for people with reduced mobility: entrance by left lateral door to an elevator that allows access to all the levels. Free entrance: 12 February, Santa Eulàlia.
